EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Accessible Hydroponics Farming Training

The Inclusive Climate Action for Fiji (ICAF) project, funded by the EU, aims to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and promote inclusive resilience and sustainable development in Fiji.

The implementing partners, Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation (RPW), NatureFiji-MareqetiViti (NFMV), and the Fiji Disabled People’s Federation (FDPF), invite expressions of interest from individuals interested in accessible hydroponic farming training.

Training Curriculum:

  • Introduction to hydroponics
  • Advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional soil farming (geoponics)
  • Horizontal and vertical setup options
  • Commonly used techniques
  • Basic equipment overview
  • Practical demonstrations of techniques such as:
    • Nutrient Flow
    • Deep Flow
    • Dutch Bucket System
    • Ebb and Flow Systems
  • Plant growth requirements
  • Water management
  • Selection of growing media
  • Considerations for greenhouse versus open farm setups
  • Plant health maintenance
  • Seeding techniques

Post-Training Opportunities:

After completing the training, participants will have the opportunity to develop and submit their own business proposals for funding. These proposals will undergo a selection process, with the aim of establishing at least three to five accessible hydroponic model farms. Funding to set up these farms will be provided as part of the “financial support to third parties” under the ICAF Project.
