It’s our 7th birthday and we would like to acknowledge and thank all our volunteers and benefactors.

Volunteers and benefactors play a big part in NFMVs conservation effort and we would like to thank them all.

Photographers

Joerg Kretzschmar, in far off Germany is no stranger to Fiji and NFMV. Joerg was here in the 1990s doing research for his Ph.D. and became one of our first Life Members, Joerg has recently donated to NFMV the proceeds of the sale of one of his photographs which will bolster our Sustainability Account.

Another photographer who helps whenever we ask is Hadoram Shirihai. Almost certainly the world’s best photographer of ‘tubenoses’ – the world’s albatrosses and petrels, Hadoram helps the Fiji Petrel project and has donated his photographs whenever we need them.

Other photographers who we would like to acknowledge are Stuart Chape, Paddy Ryan, Kevin Vang, Mark Fraser and Matt Capper.

See some more great Fijian photographs in the up-and-coming 2015 Calendar – it will be coming out early this year. All the photographers donated their photographs.

Volunteers

Swee Kok and Anna – volunteering can be hard work but it’s usually fun.

Swee Kok from Malyasia has been an inveterate volunteer for NFMV, since her arrival here two years ago.

Swee has also been a great participant in almost any activity we have undertaken with members as well as helping our secretariat from time to time.

And no more than recently, she has been mentoring our Kelera Macedru-Buadromo in the production of the 2015 Calendar.

Marnet Africa from the Philippines volunteered with NFMV whenever there was some help needed or member activity to join. Both Swee and Marnet are highly qualified and experienced ladies, but they have helped in the most mundane tasks when needed.

Thank you. In 2013, Matt Capper helped us put together our 2014 Calendar, a much more protracted task than I am sure he envisaged initially.

We wish him well in his new venture – Talanoa Treks and urge all to visit some of our spectacular inland scenery on the guided treks he is organising with local communities.

David and Elsa Miller are Life Members who are constantly helping NFMV.

Have you seen the Greetings Cards featuring George Bennett paintings ?

These were kindly designed and printed for us by David and Elsa.

Lote Dulako is a volunteer we need to thank and wish all the best in his new job – as a program assistant with an overseas NGO working in Fiji.

Best of luck, Lote, and thank you for helping us out, we are really happy that your volunteering with us provided you with the experience to get that job.

Meanwhile Anna Sahai who volunteered with us in 2010, before continuing through the Vodafone World of Difference volunteer scheme in 2011, has been with us ever since and is now a full time and key NFMV staff member.

Volunteering works, and is vital for a small conservation organisation such as NFMV.
