Jake Taoi joined the staff of NatureFiji-MareqetiViti (NFMV) as a Conservation Officer in August 2019. Currently, his main focus is collecting data on Pterocymbium oceanicum (or Fiji’s most beautiful endemic/native tree, according to Jake!). He first became involved with NFMV as a consultant assisting with a socioeconomic survey in Lakeba in 2017, and in early 2019, he again consulted for NFMV, working on a herpetofauna survey at the Nakanacagi Bat Sanctuary.
Jake earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of the South Pacific in 2017. He is passionate about forest conservation and botany, and is also interested in herpetology, fresh water ecology and birds.
