In her current role as Administrative Support Officer at NatureFiji-MareqetiViti, Sereana Maramamyawa is responsible for organising club membership activities and logistics, administration, finances, and the membership database. She is also heavily involved in public relations and merchandising. With her forestry background, Sereana continues to provide fieldwork support as needed for the organisation’s various NF-MV projects, including conducting socio-economic and invasive species surveys. She also supports the organisation’s educational programs for landowners as well as the general public.
Sereana started as an intern at NatureFiji-MareqetiViti in 2015, and then officially joined the team as a Project Support Officer in March 2017. She assisted with data collection, analysis, and entry for socio-economic projects, as well as administration and finance, and was also involved in the school awareness campaign focusing on Fiji’s bats. In 2016, Sereana was awarded a Trade Diploma in Forestry from Fiji National University.
